Getting Communities Growing Together

In 2013 Bridgend Growing Communities (BGC) secured funding from Big Lottery Fund for a two year project – ‘Getting Communities Growing Together ‘ – which will benefit communities in South Edinburgh. The project is community led and works with groups at different locations to transform derelict or underused areas into growing or community spaces.

Through a series of community consultation events and activities, project staff and BGC volunteers have translated ideas from local people into designs and delivery or growing plans. In partnership with local people and organisations we are currently working to put these into practice and to develop the chosen spaces.
The spaces we are working on are:

  • Gilmerton Primary School
  • Gilmerton Community Centre
  • Castleview Community Centre
  • Craigmillar Library

We are exploring working with Friends of Burdie House Burn Valley Park to develop the Bothy at Gilmerton Dykes Road.
